Marriott, IHG and Wyndham already use AI for hotel search
According to Hotel Dive's recap, four AI-powered hotel search tools have launched in 2026 so far. Marriott, IHG and Wyndham are the chains that have debuted conversational assistants for travelers who plan trips with AI.
This matters because it attacks exactly where hotels have been losing ground: inspiration and comparison. An assistant that understands nuances like "a hotel with good breakfasts and near a train station" can push direct booking if it connects well to the booking engine.
My take: AI won't take clients away from the front desk, it will decide before the front desk even gets a chance. The chains know this. Independents that don't have an assistant with clean inventory data will compete at a clear disadvantage. The bar is on integration: the assistant must know the real hotel, not a manual. That's where the ones that invest in their data will win.
