Stasher raises $4M to bring smart luggage lockers to UK hotels
Stasher has secured around $4 million to grow its luggage-storage marketplace and put more smart lockers into hotels and other travel locations across the United Kingdom and Europe, according to Hotel Tech News. For hotels the interesting bit is the automation of a job that tends to eat front-desk time: storing, tagging and releasing bags.
Stasher runs a two-sided model. Guests book storage online by the hour or the day, and venues, hotels included, host the lockers. The new money should speed up the rollout of connected lockers so a guest can drop a bag before check-in or leave it after checkout without a human handing over a paper ticket.
My read: this is the kind of small operational win that compounds. It turns dead space near reception into a small revenue line, frees staff for higher-value guest work and gives hotels a reason to capture the traveller hours before and after the stay. The catch is consistency across hundreds of independent venues, which is exactly what fresh capital is meant to fix. If Stasher gets the hardware and the booking flow right, luggage becomes one more touchpoint a hotel owns instead of outsourcing to a random shop down the street.
