Building a Hotel Tech Stack That Can Evolve
If you’re a hotelier, you’ve likely been sold on the idea that more integrated systems equal a smarter hotel. But a new explainer from Hospitality Net argues that the number of integrations is less important than how well they connect and who owns the data.
The real differentiator is connectivity governance and API depth. That means having clear rules for how systems talk to each other, and APIs that let you pull data out and act on it. A hotel with 10 systems but shallow APIs will struggle to evolve. One with five systems and deep APIs can adapt quickly, add new tools, and scale without a tear-and-replace project.
From my perspective, this shift is healthy. Too many hotels get stuck with a Frankenstein stack that looks impressive on paper but fails in practice. The focus should be on building a foundation where data flows freely, so the next great tool can plug in without breaking what’s already working.
